Kristal Howard is a graduate of Purdue University – Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture – and University of North Carolina at Charlotte – Master of Arts in Teaching. While at Purdue University, Kristal served on multiple executive boards, including Purdue University’s National Panhellenic Council, Caribbean Student Association, Unit 3855 of the NAACP, and Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated. Kristal also presided over both Unit 3855 of NAACP and Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, and chaired the Scholarship Committee and Community Service Committee.
Kristal worked in the banking and investments sector prior to moving to North Carolina where she shifted career paths to become a middle school math and science teacher. Kristal has now been teaching for over 10 years, has achieved the highest certification that educators can obtain – National Board certification – and has served in multiple career-related leadership roles including Google Ambassador, S.O.A.R. Mentoring Co-Chair, AVID Elective Teacher Pilot, Beginning Teacher Mentor, School Improvement Team Co-Chair, and Team Leader.
Kristal also volunteers in her community, with an extensive history serving in youth ministry and as a youth athletics coach, as well as serving on the Board of Directors of local youth organizations and multiple PTSAs/PTAs.
In addition to spending time with her family, Kristal also enjoys photography and graphic design.
